Poetry to Greed
How can we live with GREED!
Does the need for cash create seeds?
Cash in the hand does not come from the land
Money grows from no TREE
If we strip nature of its nourishment
How can we live with ourselves
when we strangle hope, beauty, love
for a quest for endless wealth.
Not my best. I have many poems I have written. Many unpublished. I wrote this today just now. It expresses my mood today. As an actress I need to explore how I feel sometimes to help connect. Stanislavsky used to write about how actors need to do their homework. I think it starts with ourselves. Learning who we are makes it easier to become aware of where we end and the characters we portray begin. This is one of the best descriptions I have read of the work of STANISLAVSKY. http://www.loveacting.com/stanislavski.html
When I first moved to Los Angeles I heard so much discussion of this theory over that. I only knew one- the father of them all. But then I also heard people rip him apart who did not understand. I was especially confused by the put downs on method acting and how long Stanislavsky’s method took. I have been told I am a self taught actress. I have learned to take the basics of Stanislavsky and work on my own without the rehearsals. That is probably the most misunderstood part of the acting process to those who are not actors or who don’t know. If you move from theater to film, you find sometimes you don’t get the support you do in the theater. You can not expect to know what others even want. All you can do is go with your instincts and do your best to give the director, producer and everyone your best. I have worked on a short where I did not even know the actress before I worked my first day. I do know she was trained. And I also know I heard her say I was good when we were working. I think I surprised her. she was not expecting that. I did not know what to expect. I surprised myself.
