Script Idea: Betrayed
I wrote this script inspired by things that happened to me. This is FICTION. Sorry my word press will not do SCRIPT formatting.
EXT. CAFE – DAY
A woman ALVAH 60 but looks late 40s sits typing at her lab top. GRIFFIN, male early 30s walks toward her. Tom, tall, a bit burly, early 30s, nods to him from across the cafe as he is leaving. Griffith sits in the chair opposite Alvah.
GRIFFIN
Sorry. Had to finish a brief. I am worried we should not be seen together.
ALVAH
Why? She is crazy. Everyone knows that now. She will never know we know each other.
GRIFFIN
She was not supposed to find out I am a lawyer, but she did.
ALVAH
Its been over 20 years since she worked for me. No one who saw her working for me knew or would have thought she was a lawyer. She has been discredited completely.
GRIFFIN
She deserves this. It makes me sick I ever touched her.
ALVAH
You mean her touching you?
GRIFFIN
Yeah well I flirted back at first. Big mistake.
ALVAH
I heard she says you were fired for tickling her.
GRIFFIN
She has no proof of that. And who is going to remember two extras tickling. It was not like I was touching her sexually.
(CONT’D)
ALVAH
Have you told the studios or at least the lawyers you know. You were underage or too young and she knew it. She looked younger than she was.
GRIFFIN
Well she looks her age now.
ALVAH
Really? You have seen her. Where? Why?
GRIFFIN
She posts ridiculous videos on line. An actor I worked on a film with sent me a link. She will be lucky if she gets a job waiting tables let alone an attractive guy or an acting gig.
ALVAH
The law and the industry are on your side. You are working. You are helping get people work and she has been reduced to nothing. She can go back east or be institutionalized again.
GRIFFIN
I think she needs a husband. She will move on and go quietly. There are some men up north who would put up with her. And I can work in the industry without worrying about her mouth.
ALVAH
The fact that she brags about being with you makes her an evil whore. She will get hers.
Alvah’s cell phone rings.
ALVAH (CONT’D)
I have to go.
Alvah grabs her lab top, briefcase from the floor, and walks out.
INT. UPSCALE BEVERLY HILLS BAR – NIGHT
Tom and Griffin are at a booth with drinks in front of them.
TOM
So who was the hottie?
GRIFFIN
Who?
TOM
The woman at the cafe?
GRIFFIN
What? She’s a lawyer and old enough to be my mother.
TOM
Since when has that stopped you?
GRIFFIN looks down for a second and it looks like he is getting mad. Then he slowly raises his head and smiles. Tom raises his glass and they toast.
