I AM REALLY a FORMER LAWYER – And my area of interested was ENTERTAINMENT
First off I am NOT just a retired lawyer. I am also a person who always wanted to work in entertainment. IN fact at Western Maryland College, now called McDaniel COllege (the same college by the way that JEREMY GILBREATHE’s girlfriend went to). I was the OPERATIONS MANAGER for the INSITUE of EDUCATIONAL MEdia. It was a business plan created by the Head of the COmmunications Department at that time, RICK DILLMAN and he picked me to help him start it. One of the professors got a grant to create a series of films on how to teach math, and so it began. I also became the Grphics Art Manager as this chart shows. Chambers was president of the school at the time. His son Grant is a musician up in San Francisco now. I used to hang out with him and some of his friends and play the congos.
From the start of my working on sets I was HONEST. I told people I had a law degree, but I didnot want to practice. I wanted to figure out how to move into the entertainment field without being a traditional lawyer. ANyways, I used to carry my Bar Card with me. I am now RETIRED. See these:
Oh yeah and I have been in the UNION for the past 3 years, though AFTRA was bad to me, and so was SAG, and so was SAG AFTRA. I was also the ABA student Representative for CATHOLIC University when I was in law school. Yes my email was Athena007- I had a thing for James Bond and the second character I ever played as an actress was “Athena” for a class project. My first acting gig was playing one of Scrooges’ workers in the musical “A Christmas Carol.” I don’t think that makes a good email adress.
New York Law School requested I apply. I got into NY, Cardoza, and waitlisted for Loyola Marymount. Why did NY law school want me- I was known in the entertainment community in DC as a first amendment advocate and also an actress and a supporter of the ARTS. I worked for the Washington Area Lawyers for the arts as an Art Management INTERN and also was completeing a MASTERS in Performing Arts Management. Do you realize my not being able to work on sets while others who ABUSED me still get to- effects my working in any aspect of entertainment- ALL OF MY EDUCATION IS BASED on the INDUSTRY.
What PEOPLE NEED TO Realize though is I was never the type of person to want to fight, argue, take over, be on the HOUSE floor of the Senate. I really did just want to express my first amendment rights. Part of which means I get to fight to be an artist and actress MYSELF. Plenty of MEN get a degree in law and end up working in entertainment. Plenty of men get a law degree and NEVER practice traditional LAW. And well cutting me off from the contacts I had, and ruining my rep on sets in the process- was no way to help me get a career in the industry. It has almost destroyed any possibility of me having a way to even PAY MY RENT!!
