Yep! I own these.  I bought them in Northern California from REI when I came here on a trip in the 1990s.   They were on sale for like $100 I think at the time.  I used to climb the rocks on the Potomac River in Washington, DC.  The same river George Washington crosses way back at the beginning of the country.  Actually, the area is called Great Falls Park.  Just take a look at the falls and the rocks on their website<\/a>.    I would spend hours there.  It was where I went to study and reflect.  I had a boy friend at the time, but as I recall he never seemed to want to go with me.  My knee was busted, but the doctors told me the climbing would not hurt it, and might help strengthen the muscles.  I would just climb out to a rock away from people fishing or hiking and sit and read.  When you are on the river, all you can hear is the water.  <\/p>\n

Now here is the thing.  There are no rocks here to climb.  Also the shoes don\u2019t fit me right anymore and there is better foot wear I should probably get in the future.  I also trained to top rope at one point, which is a form of indoor and outdoor rock climbing.  I am actually scared of heights and was trying to face my fear.  I would rather now hike in Griffith park, then spend money to rent time in a rock climbing gym inside and there is not one near me here in Los Angeles.  Yes, I was once certified to rock climb if attached to another person with rope.  I could not run.  Walking was a pain.  And I needed a challenge.  <\/p>\n

I am now on a quest to find out how to recycle these shoes.  I figure who would want to buy my old shoes so why not find a way to make sure they are used in some capacity as opposed to just throwing them away.  I will update this blog when I find the answer\u2026.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
