Why I think the Character Jim Shannon of “Terra Nova” is a True Feminist and very Attractive for women?
I am writing about the character created by Craig Silverstein and Kelly Marcel, not the actor per se, though Jason O’Mara did a fantastic job of portraying the character. I have been thinking about the relationships of men and women in our society lately and well there is still a long way to go in the realm of equality and civil rights. According to this information for the U.N., a woman has a greater chance of being violated in her life time than in getting cancer. THAT IS WRONG. http://www.un.org/en/globalissues/briefingpapers/endviol/index.shtml
So why is this macho, fighter, soldier a TRUE FEMINIST. Watch the show “Terra Nova.” Here you have a man who is trained to fight and survive as a soldier, but he is married to an intelligent scientist doctor who is more intellectual and in some areas much more capable then the good Jim Shannon, and guess what- he is open about it. The character developed on “Terra Nova” admits his wife is smarter than he is, and that he was nervous she would find out. Now to me, men who are afraid of a woman who is smart are not men. We women were designed to maybe not be as physically strong as you, but Nature has a way to make sure a species survives, so why would any man reading this not be surprised that there are women who can out do men in certain intellectual areas. IN the long run, we are equal and individuals, male or female, and respect is not needing to knock someone down so you feel superior, but in being honest and appreciating people for the skills they do have and trusting that we women can handle ourselves just as well as you men in some areas of the use of our brain matter.
